YPOG expands Banking & Financial Services practice area in Hamburg: Carsten Lösing joins as Associated Partner

Hamburg – As of December 01, 2022, the business law firm YPOG strengthens its Banking & Financial Services practice with the renowned lawyer and expert for regulatory law Carsten Lösing. The graduated business economist and Doctor of Law joins from the international law firm White & Case, where he previously worked as a Counsel as part of the German Banking & Finance and Capital Markets practice. At YPOG, he starts as an Associated Partner and will be part of the banking regulatory team around partner Carola Rathke. In his previous position, Lösing advised national and international banks, financial services and financial technology companies as well as real economy companies on complex regulatory matters and contractual agreements related to financial services.

His entry continues the strong development that the practice area has experienced over the last months under the leadership of Carola Rathke and the work of Partner Lennart Lorenz. The team includes Thomas Tüllmann (Associated Partner), Anika Patz (Senior Associate) as well as new arrival David John (Senior Associate) and other experienced lawyers. Carsten Lösing's primary focus will be on regulatory advice and BaFin proceedings. Moreover, he will concentrate on so-called payment services regulatory law as well as on various payment and financing instruments. His expertise in the area of new payment and financing models, for example in the application of credit cards, e-money and wallet solutions, will enhance the innovation potential of his clients and YPOG. Furthermore, Carsten Lösing will leverage his longstanding experience in debt financing in order to strengthen the financing transaction practice that Matthias Kresser (Associated Partner) has established over the past years.

"With Carsten Lösing, YPOG, in particular our Banking & Financial Services practice, wins a proven expert in the field of payment services. As the digital euro is becoming increasingly important for our clients and their business models, we are extremely pleased about the new arrival. This way, we can further guarantee the best possible advice to our clients on all financial market or financial market regulatory topics," says YPOG partner Carola Rathke.

"YPOG provides one of the most specialized and innovative advisory services in the area of regulatory law, especially for fast-growing companies. I am looking forward to being part of this renowned and dynamic team, to building on our strengths and to further expanding the practice area," says Carsten Lösing.
