Legal Tech + Innovation

Code the law.
Shape what's next.

From the first idea to prototype and go-live: at YPOG, you work where legal and tax matters meet technology. In our interdisciplinary teams, you turn complex legal and tax matters into digital solutions – from automated workflows and AI solutions to new services and products for our clients.

Whether you come from software development, operations, or a legal and tax background: here you help shape how we will work tomorrow – not as an internal service provider, but as a real driver of innovation for the firm and its clients. In design thinking workshops, we test new approaches, develop in an agile way, and put the best ideas into practice together.

To do that, we give you what you need: modern tools, short decision-making paths, a lot of freedom to shape things, and direct exchange with legal tech experts. If you want to bring together technology, processes, product-centric thinking, and advisory work, this is the right place for you.

Your ideas. Our Legal Tech playground.

Sabine and Marc are your go to contacts for our Legal Tech projects and innovation formats. They connect IT, operations, and legal/tax teams and help you find the right entry point into our projects.

What is Legal Tech at YPOG?

Legal Tech refers to the use of software, automation, and AI to structure, accelerate and scale legal and tax-related work.

At YPOG, Legal Tech includes:

  • Process analysis: we break down client matters and internal workflows into clear, well-defined steps.
  • Automation: repetitive tasks are handled through deterministic processes, such as automated document generation.

  • AI applications: where language and context matter, we leverage AI, for example to create drafts of tax-law work products.

  • Products for clients: portals, deadline tracking, and status dashboards give clients greater transparency into our work.

The Tech + Automation team is responsible for this.

Legal Tech at YPOG:
how we build solutions and products

In the Tech + Automation team brings together YPOG’s technical and operational expertise in Legal Tech. Software engineers work alongside colleagues from Legal Operations and Product in one integrated team, collaborating closely with our lawyers and tax advisors.

How new ideas emerge

New Legal Tech ideas emerge through multidisciplinary hackathons, pilot projects, and ongoing collaboration with our practice groups. Together, we evaluate which concepts have the greatest potential and should move into our development pipeline.

From analysis to go-live

Rather than working on abstract tickets, you will be developing solutions for real-world workflows and client needs:

  • Analysis: you analyse client and internal processes and break them down into clear, structured steps.

  • Evaluation: you assess which steps can be automated using rules-based logic and where AI can create additional value.

  • Prototyping: you build initial solutions and test them together with the practice groups.

  • Go-live: successful prototypes are turned into production-ready solutions.

Examples of what you will work on include automated document flows, deadline and status tracking, complex drafts of tax and legal work products, and portals for clients.

Legal expertise meets technology

Building digital solutions for tax and legal work requires more than great technology. It requires your subject-matter expertise. As a associate, tax advisor, legal engineer or other specialist, you understand our client matters, workflows, and challenges in detail – and that is exactly where you come in.

You recognise which steps are repeated over and over again, where information gets lost or where coordination takes too long.

Your tasks in Legal Tech projects:

  • Define use cases: you specify what a tool needs to do from a legal or tax perspective and which exceptions apply.

  • Subject-matter guidance: you ensure that legal and tax logic is accurately reflected in the solution.

  • Testing and sign-off: you test new features and help decide when a solution is ready for deployment.

  • Rollout: you support the implementation in the matter teams.

This allows you to stay closely connected to legal and tax work while helping shape how our expertise is translated into scalable digital solutions for our clients.

"Cross-collaboration and client-centric product thinking are what set us apart."

Hybrid Working

Our IT infrastructure enables you to work flexibly, whether from home or from one of our YPOG offices. We are also happy to provide you with a “workation” as part of our policy.

At YPOG, we believe that flexibility works best when balanced with personal connection. That is why we regularly come together in the office and take part in formats that strengthen our sense of community. At the Morning Mingle, you can start your day with colleagues from your office, usually with a coffee in hand, and connect in an informal setting. During our monthly, cross-office “YPOG Update“, we share news and insights from across the firm, complemented by the day-to-day collaboration within your team.

For us, hybrid working also means collaborating seamlessly across locations. Team members may be based in different offices, while working together closely as one team.

Plenty of Creative Freedom

Quick and competent decisions are key to our success. That's why we give you a lot of creative freedom. We trust that, together with your colleagues, you know best what is important for your area.

We also ensure short coordination and decision-making paths across teams so that you always have the feeling that you can make a difference and your initiatives are not being held back.

Lean Digital Processes

Whether onboarding, document processing or e-learning - at YPOG we have organized our workflows quickly and efficiently. Thanks to our fully digital cloud infrastructure and the constant improvement of our processes, we have been able to eliminate most time-wasters from our day-to-day work. That means you have more time for the important things.

Physical & Mental Health

Your health is very important to YPOG. For your mental wellbeing, we work with OpenUp. Through OpenUp, you have unlimited one-on-one access to coaching and mindfulness consultations with psychologists and other mental health resources.

For a workout-life balance, we cooperate with the Urban Sports Club as well as EGYM Wellpass, and as a YPOGee you get your membership significantly cheaper. We also offer yoga classes and back training, work with running coaches, provide fresh fruit and vegetables, and offer you the opportunity to lease a work bike. We have equipped our offices with the latest ergonomic chairs and height-adjustable desks.

Onboarding

When you join YPOG, we want to make your first few months as easy as possible. Your team will accompany your start and help you with all organizational and technical questions. Of course, all the other YPOGees will also be happy to help you.

A learning management system, wikis, process descriptions, assistance for handling mandates, and various specialist topics for reference will help you to familiarize yourself and ensure that you get off to a good start with us.

Feedback + Development Meetings

Regular development meetings with your team lead or a partner will show you transparently where you stand in your development and what we expect from you.

With us, feedback doesn't just go in one direction. We regularly ask you (as with all other colleagues) how you are doing with us, whether you are developing optimally, or what we can do better.

Learning at YPOG

At YPOG, we believe in lifelong learning. We will support you at every stage of your career in a way that really helps you progress. Because we are convinced that we can only remain successful if we don't rest on our laurels, but continue to develop.

We support your professional development through the programs offered by our internal YBrains Academy. Together with Bucerius Law School, we have developed various courses specifically for business professionals, for example in the areas of time management, project management, and communication. If you are interested in (legal) tech topics, you can take part in our tech readiness training courses. For example, you will learn the basics of digital design, programming, or the management of digital projects.

If required, YPOG will of course also support external training courses that will take you to the next level: We provide financial support for seminars and training courses and allow time off work for participation and preparation.

It is important to us that you feel comfortable at YPOG and have everything you need to perform well. That's why we have various benefits for you and your colleagues and regularly add to this offer.

We provide you with the "Deutschland-Ticket" for the journey from your place of residence to our office.

With a notebook, two monitors in the office, a monitor for working from home, a company cell phone, and a tablet if required, our hardware setup leaves nothing to be desired.

Top furnishings, barrier-free access, great surroundings, and of course, nice colleagues - you can feel at home in our offices.

Balancing family and work isn’t always easy; our cooperation with “heycare” to find childcare providers and valuable information on parenthood can help you with this balance. We also hold regular Roundtables for parents at our locations to share best practices or simply recharge your batteries, and our well-equipped parent-child room is regularly used by children and their parents.

We offer a business English course once a week. This will prepare you even better for tasks in an international context.

At YPOG, we foster a strong sense of community across all our offices. Whether at our annual Christmas party with YPOGees from across the firm, through formats like the YPOG Update that provide insights into developments across the firm, or during team offsites that create space for exchange, new ideas, and fresh perspectives, staying connected is an important part of who we are.

If Excel, Word, or PowerPoint are annoying you, we have an in-house expert who can help you immediately and give you tips on the programs. You can find further help in the tutorials of our Learning Management System.

Coffee, tea, water, muesli, fruit, vegetables, and small treats are available in our offices to keep you going. We pay attention to sustainable and fair production for all products.

You have a four-legged friend who should also be your constant companion at work. As part of our pooch policy, we also welcome team members with fur at our offices.

Apply to YPOG

You can upload your application documents using our online form. Transparency is very important to us. We provide you with comprehensive information about what makes us tick and what it's like to work for us. We would therefore be delighted if you could also provide us with some information about yourself. We ask for your CV, your references, and a brief background to your application, for instance, when you could start with us. A cover letter is not necessary.

What happens next with your application?

Once we have received your application, we will get back to you within a week. If we are interested in your profile, we will meet you (virtually, if you wish) for an initial interview.

If the first meeting is promising for you and for us, we will invite you to a second meeting in one of our offices.

Before you decide to join YPOG, you will have the opportunity to get to know your future team in person. This way you can be sure that we not only fit together professionally, but also that the chemistry between us is right.

By the way…
...at YPOG we are on a first-name basis from the very beginning. You are welcome to omit the formal "you" (“Sie” auf Deutsch) in your application.
