Berlin/Cologne – A YPOG team co-led by Johannes Janning and Benjamin Ullrich advised Katjes Greenfood on the recent financing round of food startup The Rainforest Company. The funding has a total volume of €36 million and was led by Kaltroco Ltd. Katjes Greenfood participated through a secondary in the financing round. The financing round marks one of the largest fundings in the German food tech sector in 2022 and the largest investment received by a woman-led food tech company in Europe.
The Rainforest Company achieved impressive growth rates after the initial investment by Katjes Greenfood in 2018. Due to a successful multichannel strategy with listings in more than 12,000 retail locations worldwide and strong D2C operations, the startup already generated revenues of €20 million. In order to further increase the company's success, the fresh capital will be used for internationalization and product expansion.
