YPOG advises EIC Fund on EUR 37 million Series A financing round of space tech startup constellr

YPOG has provided legal advice to the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund, an initiative of the European Commission, on its participation in the EUR 37 million Series A funding round of Munich-based space tech start-up constellr. The round is one of the largest early-stage financings in the European space sector and was led by Alpine Space Ventures and Lakestar, with the EIC Fund participating as a strategic public investor.

With this new funding, constellr’s total capital raised increases to around EUR 75 million. Founded in 2020, the company already operates satellites in orbit that use specialised infrared sensors to measure the Earth’s surface with high temperature accuracy. The resulting data is used, among other things, in agriculture, the food industry and by space agencies to detect potential crop failures at an early stage and monitor critical infrastructure. constellr aims to build a globally available thermal data infrastructure by the end of the decade, enabling near real-time monitoring of, for example, water demand and crop yields on individual fields.

This transaction highlights our strong expertise in complex, internationally coordinated financing rounds in the deep-tech and technology sector as well as our long-standing, trust-based cooperation with the EIC Fund. This transaction seamlessly continues a series of joint deals through which we contribute in a targeted manner to the financing of leading European technology companies,” comments Dr. Johannes Janning, Partner at YPOG.
