Education and Career
Max studied law at the University of Münster and also completed specialized foreign language course in common law (English) there. After passing his first state examination, he worked as Head of Business Development at a legal tech start-up in the field of document automation.
He then pursued a PhD as an external doctoral candidate at the University of Leipzig at the interface of European corporate law and LegalTech on the online model for founding a limited liability company (GmbH). As part of his doctorate, he worked as a research assistant at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, where he advised students and start-ups on incorporation and financing issues.
Parallel to this, as an investment associate at HPI Seed Fund (HPI Ventures), he managed investments in numerous young B2B tech start-ups, prepared new investments, and supported their implementation.
He completed his legal clerkship at the Berlin Court of Appeal, with placements including the Department for Digitalization at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, a law firm specializing in venture capital in Berlin, and a US law firm in New York City, where he supported start-ups in particular with financing rounds in the US market and so-called “US flips.”
