YPOG has advised OBI Group Holding SE & Co. KGaA on the acquisition of a majority stake in Enovato GmbH, known in the market as 42watt. OBI, Germany's best-known DIY store brand, is thus deepening its partnership with Munich-based clean tech company 42watt, which has been in place since November 2023, and is driving forward its strategic development as a holistic solution provider for sustainable homes.
42watt is a clean tech pioneer specializing in energy-efficient building renovation with a digital one-stop-shop approach for residential building owners. The company supports homeowners from the initial consultation, through individual renovation roadmaps and subsidy advice, to the planning, implementation, and subsequent optimization of building operations. Through its own network of local specialist companies and a manufacturer-independent product selection, 42watt enables tailor-made solutions, particularly in the area of heat pumps and other efficiency measures.
With its majority stake, OBI is laying the foundation for making 42watt's technology and services available to a broad customer base via obi.de, the heyOBI app, and, in the future, in more than 350 stores in Germany.
“OBI's majority stake in 42watt demonstrates the central role that innovative clean tech solutions play in the energy transition in the building sector. We are delighted to have advised OBI on this strategically important transaction,” comments Johannes Janning, partner at YPOG.
