YPOG advises Hatch Blue on up to EUR 38.5 million financing for Oceanloop

YPOG advised Hatch Blue on the financing of Oceanloop Management GmbH. Hatch Blue is a specialized investment firm backing the technologies and companies transforming aquaculture. The financing comprises new equity commitments from Hatch Blue’s Blue Revolution Fund and Stolt Ventures, as well as a EUR 32 million venture debt facility from the European Investment Bank. In total, Oceanloop has access to up to EUR 38.5 million to scale its land-based aquaculture technology and produce Giant Grouper in Europe. Hatch Blue’s Blue Revolution Fund is participating as the new lead investor on the equity side.

Oceanloop is a German aquaculture technology company headquartered in Munich. It develops modular, software-driven recirculating aquaculture systems for the land-based production of premium marine seafood. Following several years of biological and technical development, Oceanloop has become the first company to commercially farm Giant Grouper in Europe. Sales from its existing farm in Strande near Kiel began in April 2026 through its sister company Honest Catch. Oceanloop combines engineering, marine biology, water treatment, software, digital monitoring and laboratory services in an integrated platform.

The financing will initially support the construction of a farm in Kiel with an annual production capacity of approximately 250 tonnes of Giant Grouper. Oceanloop subsequently plans to develop a commercial facility in Gran Canaria with an annual production capacity of approximately 2,000 tonnes. In addition, the company plans to further develop its RAS platform for other species, including grouper and shrimp, and is exploring international partnerships and technology licensing opportunities.

“This financing will support Oceanloop in bringing innovative aquaculture technology into its next phase of growth. What stood out throughout the transaction and our collaboration was Hatch Blue’s combination of sector expertise, commercial understanding, and a genuinely collaborative approach,” said Adrian Haase, Partner at YPOG.
