Berlin, December 16, 2025 – YPOG has provided comprehensive legal and tax advice to ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE on the sale of its wholly owned subsidiary wetter.com to FUNKE Mediengruppe. The transaction was structured as an asset deal and is still subject to approval by the competent antitrust authorities. Closing of the transaction is expected in the first quarter of 2026.

With this sale, ProSiebenSat.1 is consistently pursuing its strategic focus on its core Entertainment business, while at the same time strengthening its financial base by reducing existing liabilities. wetter.com was co-founded in 2000, fully acquired by ProSiebenSat.1 in 2014, and integrated into the group’s digital segment. With locations in Constance, Berlin and Munich, wetter.com is now one of the leading online weather portals in the DACH region and is active in 15 European markets. Through TV and digital campaigns, ProSiebenSat.1 has strongly established the brand and accelerated its growth.

Under its new owner FUNKE Mediengruppe, wetter.com will in future complement FUNKE’s digital portfolio, which is focused on service-oriented, wide-reach brands for consumers.

“We are pleased to have supported ProSiebenSat.1 in this strategically important transaction. The sale of wetter.com demonstrates ProSiebenSat.1’s strength in active portfolio management,” said Dr. Martin Schaper, partner at YPOG.
